The Number One tool for affiliates

Here's my top choice - the No.1 tool that affiliates need. It doesn't just teach you how to build a website, it teaches you how to build a successful business.

The tool - well, actually, it's a whole suite of tools all in one place- is Site Build It!

Are you frustrated by all the hype, gimmicks and get-rich-quick affiliate marketing junk out there? If so, you'll LOVE the all-in-one-place suite of tools we use and recommend - Site Build it! (SBI).

SBI is all about building a sound, solid, profitable affiliate business and how to create a variety of revenue streams, not just affiliate commissions.

This highly advanced suite of tools simplifies everything for the affiliate who wants to create a themed web site, one that covers a small niche. When you create a themed site, you're building for the future. Search engines - and your human visitors - LOVE niche sites.

Comprehensive instruction manual

It comes with a comprehensive instruction manual. You're not just taught how to build a website, you're taught how to build a successful Internet business.

You don't even have to know HTML, FTP or even how to submit to search engines. Site Build It! does all that for you. You concentrate on YOUR expertise, on writing about things in which you have a passionate interest, and weave affiliate links into your articles.

Can't think of a niche? Don't worry. The brainstorming tool will help you find a profitable one.

One of my assistants, Rupert Farrow, knew NOTHING about affiliate marketing when I hired him.

His first affiliate site, about how to be a club DJ, earns a few hundred dollars a month. His second site, about cheap computers, regularly earns $1,000 a month in commissions and ad revenue, sometimes more.

He did it simply by following the step-by-step instructions in the Action Guide that comes with Site Build It!

Now several years later, the site is maintained by another employee. It still usually earns $1,000 or so a month in commissions and ad revenue.

We love Site Build It! We're building more sites with it.

Very highly recommended. Take the free Video Tour.

Sure fire techniques every on line affiliate should use

If you promote affiliate programs on line, there are a few steps you can take to maximise your profit. With these tried and tested techniques and a daily action plan you can't fail to increase your earnings.

There are no magic formulas and secret tricks to sure fire success with on line affiliate programs, there are no shortcuts or get rich quick methods. You must treat your on line affiliate business no differently than any other business, but by using several good marketing practices and some hard work and dedication you will acheive success.

I would like to share with you just a few of the techniques that have worked for me over time, and continue to work today just as well as they did six months or even a year ago. Sorry there are no quick fixes here, but if you continue to apply these techniques diligently I can promise you that you will succeed, with increased sales and traffic to the landing pages of your affiliate offer.

The first tip is you can never succeed long term using the landing pages provided by the product vendor you are promoting. You must have your own landing page, the main reason for this is that you are going to be putting a lot of hard work into getting your visitors, and by sending them directly to your affiliate company you will never get their details and if on this first visit you don't get a sale they are lost forever.

Here are the advantages of having your own landing page and what you should put on it. Your landing page should contain the following elements. Number one a review of the product, number two an opt in form so your visitor can join your list and three testimonials from people who have used the product. To start with you can borrow some testimonials from your affiliate program owners page and down the line you can get your own by asking your own referred customers to provide testimonials to you direct. No matter how many affiliate products you represent you must always have a separate page for each product

The second tip is to provide a free report to your visitor that is related to your offer, you can use it as a bribe for signing up to your list, or give it to sites that provide resaleable e books or reports to give you a viral traffic producing item that can bring traffic to you for years . This report should contain a link to your product website or your own site.once your website visitor has signed up to your list you should write a short series of autoresponder messages, that remind your customer of the product you are promoting, and give them a few nuggets of information about it. That way you have several attempts to recycle your hard earned traffic by getting them to visit your site again and maybe leading them to a buying decision.

You should try to make sure the traffic you get to your site is targeted, by that I mean the visitor should be interested in your offer before they even arrive at your page. One of the ways to achieve this is by writing articles that relate to your product and submitting them to article directories. Try to submit at least two per week. By continuing this over time you will start to get a steady stream of visitors to your page as well as getting back links appearing all over the place as other website owners and ezine or newsletter publishers use your article as content.

Like I said no tricks or magic tactics, but using these tips over time can only lead to traffic and sales. It should not be thought of as a short term thing but within 30 days you will be seeing success. Use these tips for several affiliate marketing programs, and you can end up maintaining a good source of income and surviving in this business. It may be hard work but just think of the paychecks that will be coming your way.

Invest in your affiliate business and watch your profits soar

Everything worthwhile has a cost... Whenever you think you are getting something for nothing, look again—someone, somewhere, somehow is paying for it. Behind every free lunch there is a hidden cost to be accounted for.

If you, or any of your business prospects, believe that time is money, then yes, the "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch" principle DOES apply to your internet business. What you can't invest in money, you will have to invest in time. You will have to be able to put the axe to the grind for more hours per day or week, and you will have to wait for more weeks and months before your ship comes in. Those are the facts.

If you are able to think outside the box (and few internet entrepreneurs CAN'T!) then the principle can be stretched a little. Are you balking at spending a few pennies a day to boost your sales? Do some research comparing what your marketing program offers and what the same services cost on the open market. Compare what information your program offers and what you can learn elsewhere. For example:

* find some online business forums and search these topics: free advertising, phone follow-up techniques, sample follow-up letters, sample phone scripts.

* investigate your and other affiliate marketing programs for all the above

plus services and tools such as: prospect notification, contact manager, online forum, billing and revenue collection, gateway website, company resource center, free sales and marketing tools, affiliate training courses, successful team support, commission or compensation schedule. In other words, look at EVERYTHING that the program will give you for free.* research what you would have to pay for any or all of the above tools, hints, and services.

How does your affiliate program measure up? What do you get for free and therefore, what do you save? How much can you afford to invest based on these savings?

If you absolutely HAVE NO MONEY to invest, that's one thing. If you have a knee-jerk reaction to investing in something that "says it's free", think again. What other business in the WORLD besides one on the internet can you begin for NOTHING? How many pennies a day can you AFFORD to invest in your business, maybe not now but as soon as possible?

If you have nothing, you can start and run a business. You will have to pay for it, however, with time. Free ads need to be worked every day. Free ads drop out of sight as new ads follow. You need to study your product till you know it inside and out, so all prospective affiliates can be led, encouraged, taught how they too can succeed. Since the name of the game is visibility amongst the billions of offers on the internet, you can't afford to waste a single hard-won prospect.

Without any money to invest in advertising, this will be a long slow process. You will have to determine how YOU can best achieve sales and attract affiliates, because each person's skills, style and dislikes are different.

You need to be internet savvy because all the information you require to succeed is out there, you just have to know how to find it. Study, seek your own answers, and know where and how to ask questions. You will win the game with patience and persistence.

Increase Traffic to Your Website and Affiliate Products With Ezines

Let's begin with defining what an "ezine" is and how it can help you drive tons of traffic to your website and help you sell products and services. An ezine (electronic magazine) is much like a traditional magazine or newsletter. However, it is only delivered via email. People sign up to receive ezines for free or a monthly subscription fee. Most ezines are published weekly, but some are published daily, monthly or bi-monthly.

Generating Traffic with Ezines (Ads)
Classified Ads: the cheapest ads you can buy. Classified ads are limited to two or three lines and placed at the end of the ezine. Unless you place a classified ad in an ezine with 30,000 subscribers or more, your chances of getting a response are very small.

Sponsor Ads: these are more expensive than classified ads, but will give you much better response. Sponsor ads can be placed at the top, middle or bottom of an ezine issue. You can include more text in a sponsor ad so it's a good way to test your copy before going all out on a solo ad.

Solo Ads: these are the king of all ezine ads because your offer is sent exclusively to everyone on the mailing list and gets the full attention of the subscribers. No articles or other content is included. Solo ads can be expensive, but they can increase your response by as much a 100% over sponsor ads. You can usually expect a 10% response rate from a good solo ad. In other words, if you purchase a solo ad for $100 in an ezine with 10,000 subscribers, you should expect about 1,000 highly targeted visitors.

Note: Solo ads can be purchased for as little as $10. You will usually get a better response from a $10 solo ad sent to 500 subscribers than you will from a $10 classified ad sent to 5,000.

Here's your step-by-step guide to successful ezine advertising.

Step One: Subscribe to 3 or More Ezines
Subscribe to ezines that offer top sponsor and solo ads within your budget. Subscribing to ezines before you place your ads will allow you to determine the quality of the list and potential profitability of your campaign before you spend any money. You can also make sure your ad goes out.

You can find a wide variety of ezines in these directories:
http://topezineads.com
http://www.directoryofezines.com

Step Two: Contact the Advertisers
The surest way to maximize your results from any ezine is to ask people who have already advertised. Take a few minutes to contact one or more people who have placed ads similar to the one you want to place. Tell them you're new to ezine advertising and are afraid of losing money. Most people will be glad to help you out. And if they had a bad experience, they'll definitely let you know.

In addition, if you see the same ad running multiple times, that's a good indication that it was profitable. Smart marketers will run the same ad at least three times if the first one was successful.

Step Three: Contact the Ezine Publisher
Contact the publisher to find out if anyone has else has purchased an ad within the last month for the same product you want to promote. This is critical because you don't want to advertise the same product to people who may have already purchased.
Here are some additional questions to ask (if they are not stated on the website):

1 Can I personalize the subject line?
2 Can I personalize the message?
3 If yes, what are the personalization codes?
4 How often to you publish?
5 When is your next opening?
6 What is the maximum word count?

Step Four: Set Up an Ad Tracker
You will want to create a tracking campaign for each ezine that you advertise in. The system will create a link for you to use and it will track your visitors and commissions just like your regular affiliate link.
Never pay for adverting unless you can track the response. You need to know how many visitors and sales you get for each ad you place so you can determine whether or not you want to run another ad in a particular ezine.

This information is critical for determining how well each ad campaign does and how well you're converting visitors into sales. Sometimes you just need to tweak your ad copy and run the ad again for better results.
If you get good results the first time, run your ad again in a week or two. Not everyone will buy the first time around. And many who were "on the fence" the first time they saw your ad, may purchase the second time around.

Step Five: Write Your Ad
Most affiliate programs provide pre-written ads for you to use. While that is convenient, you'll get much better results if you don't use them word for word. Make them unique and follow some of these suggestions:
1 Add a personal endorsement. With all the hype online, people are more likely to read and click on something that you personally recommend.

2 Use a testimonial from the sale letter for the product you are promoting. That's an easy way to get content for a good solo ad.

3 Use other people's ads. One of the bests ways to come up with ideas for good ads is to read ezines. Look for ads that catch your eye. Modify them to fit the product you're promoting and add your own personal touch.

Step Six: Place Your Order
This is the easy part. You simply fill out a form with your ad copy and credit card information. After you process the order you will receive a confirmation telling you when the ad will run. And since you are already subscribed to the ezine, you can verify it yourself. Don't rely on them to send you a "courtesy copy."

Step Seven: Put Half Your Profits Back Into Advertising
Once you start generating sales from your ezine ads (this is why you need to track them accurately), take half of your profit and use that to purchase more ezine space. This ensures profitable growth and proper allocation of your marketing spend.

Ezine marketing and advertising is the same as any other online marketing vehicle. The key is to start small, test, evaluate the results, and channel your marketing to those ezines that produce a positive return. Once you're up and running, continue to tweak your ad to see if you can increase response rates.

A Missing Piece of the Profit Puzzle: Applying Leverage In Your Affiliate Business

We all want fatter commission checks. What affiliate doesn't, right?

If you're like the average affiliate marketer – let's say you'd class your experience at the “intermediate level” -- then you're probably wondering how move up the next rung of the ladder, and really start skyrocketing your income to super-affiliate levels.

I've got one word for you: LEVERAGE.

Forget all the latest 'sure thing' tactics for a moment. They're not what you really need. This isn't to say they won't be useful additions to your arsenal, but its not a new bag of tricks you need at this level.

What you need is leverage, and the type of leverage we're talking about here is financial leverage. It is time to start re-investing your profits.

If you're already doing this, I commend you. If not, then read on. Its really important that you appreciate the power of this concept.

Think for a moment about how you got to where you are today. If you're like most affiliates at this level, you started on shoe-string budget, and have worked your way up to about $1,000-$3,000 in commissions per month, max.

You're no doubt supplementing your regular income quite nicely, but probably haven't quit your day job on this income unless you're single and have very little in the way of debt.

For a lot of affiliates, this is the point where apathy (or even fear) comes into play. Its so rewarding to finally have this kind of extra income, you're tempted to spend most of it on yourself or start squirreling it away for a rainy day. After all, everything is running fine just the way you have it set up.

Now, hear this: This is exactly what's stopping you from earning more money!

You've settled on the advertising budget that's working to bring in a few grand. Maybe you do re-invest some of your profit, so that advertising is essentially free now.

But what if, by spending a bit more, you could earn twice or even three times as much?

Well, you CAN, and here's how: Starting this month, commit to leveraging 50% of your affiliate income towards the following two areas:

1. Paid advertising.

2. Getting your own product created

Here's what to do with your paid advertising. First, pull out all the performance data you have for current advertising programs.

Determine which campaigns would benefit from an extra investment of cash. This is not limited just to the top performers. You've probably got at least one campaign that's promising, but could use a little boost.

Some of the areas you might look at include:

*Increasing the overall daily budget in your pay-per-click campaigns

*Text or banner link advertising on a new site

*Running some solo ads in e-zines you haven't advertised in before

The key here is to devote some cash to both the old and the new. Inject some life into your current advertising, but also try out a new venue or a new method (like offline advertising).

Finally, its time for you to invest in getting your own product created. Choose just one of your current niche products, and have someone create a related, complementary product for you.

Why?

Because its going to help you boost your sales by improving your offers. Once you've got your own product, you can leverage it as 'bait' to persuade prospects to take you up on the affiliate product offer.

You've probably seen this tactic employed in the past. Marketer X sends out the promo email to his list, and says, “If you buy product x through me, I'm going to sweeten the deal by giving you all these additional bonus products of mine for free....”

This is really powerful. Before, all you had to rely on was the combined power of your copy writing skills and the copy on the merchant's site; but, with your own product tossed into the mix, you're able to create an even better offer.

This is the beauty of leverage. You needn't worry about parting with some extra money. You'll probably feel a little bit uneasy about it at first, and that's only natural.

However, once you see the results of using leverage, you'll wonder why you didn't start using it sooner!
